How to Crimp a Vinyl Rail

1. Cut the rail to length so it seats fully in the routed post hole.
2. Open the handles and slide the jaws over the end of the rail, with the rail pushed all the way into the jaws.
3. Squeeze the handles closed in one smooth stroke to crimp the 3/4″ locking tab.
4. Open, pull the tool off and check the tab. Crimp the other side of the rail end if your fence system calls for tabs on both sides.
5. Push the rail into the post until it snaps in and locks.

Tip: Vinyl gets brittle in cold weather. On cold days, keep rails out of the wind or warm the end before you crimp to avoid cracking.
